Aaron Bushnell
“My name is Aaron Bushnell. I’m an active duty member of the United States Air Force. And I will no longer be complicit in genocide.”
“I’m about to engage in an extreme act of protest, but compared to what people have been experiencing in Palestine at the hands of their colonisers, it’s not extreme at all. This is what our ruling class has decided will be normal.”

It seems fitting to write my first blog post on Aaron Bushnell and his recent act of extreme protest on Sunday Feb 25th. I would like to emphasize that I do not believe anyone should do this. We need as many empathetic and couragious hearts earth-side as we can get. That being said, the incredible act that Aaron did should not be done in vain. It is our duty to share his message.
Aaron livestreamed himself walking up the the Israeli embassy in Washington DC. He stated, “My name is Aaron Bushnell. I’m an active duty member of the United States Air Force. And I will no longer be complicit in genocide. I’m about to engage in an extreme act of protest, but compared to what people have been experiencing in Palestine at the hands of their colonisers, it’s not extreme at all. This is what our ruling class has decided will be normal.” He then dumped the accelerant he was carrying over his head. At this point in the video, you can hear someone say, “Hey Sir, Can I help you?” Aaron is seen struggling with the lighter, for a few moments, until he is able to light himself on fire.
Aaron screamed “Free Palestine!” until his body physically couldn’t anymore. It is a video I will never forget. After Aaron collapses to the ground. After Aaron is unable to scream anymore, but before he collapses, an officer (who has been reported to be part of Israeli security) is heard yelling, “On the ground!” Aaron is engulfed in flames at this point and collapses onto the ground. Even though Aaron is literally on fire and unconscious, this officer keeps his gun drawn the entire time. A second officer is yelling, “Get a fire extinguisher! Get a fire extinguisher! Jesus Christ get the fire extinguisher. Drop the gun! I don’t need guns. I need fire extinguishers!!!” The Israeli officer kept his gun raised the entire time, until someone discovers the phone and the recording ends.
Aaron Bushnell later succumbed to his injuries and passed away in the hospital. Aaron was 25 years old. He was an active member of The Air Force and getting his bachelor’s degree in software engineering. He was a part of many organizations, including a mutual aid organization. A friend described him saying, “He’s always trying to think about how we can actually achieve liberation for all with a smile on his face,”
Despite what many Pro-Israel commenters would like you to think, Aaron’s extreme act of empathy and compassion has reached around the globe. Mainstream media network, CNN even covered it accurately. Because we the people are staying engaged and paying attention, more and more news stations will continue to be forced to report the actual news. Of course the Biden Adminstration reacted by blabbing on and on about Israel’s right to “defend itself.” But we all see. The whole world sees. https://www.tiktok.com/@dodge_diaries_2.0/video/7340101734074961198?is_from_webapp=1&sender_device=pc&web_id=7340309594747176491
Sadly, had Aaron not livestreamed this event, it would have most definetly been swept under the rug. This is what happened on December 2nd when a women self-immolated in front of the Israeli Embassy in Atlanta Georgia. Despite my best efforts, I CAN NOT even find the woman’s name. I do not know if she succumbed to her injuries. The report I read stated she had gone to the hospital and was suffering with 3rd degree burns. If anyone has any more information on the woman from Atlanta, please send me a message.
“You pulled your guns out, instead of fire extinguishers” https://www.tiktok.com/@dodge_diaries_2.0/video/7340315091121818922?is_from_webapp=1&sender_device=pc&web_id=7340309594747176491
Rest in Peace Aaron Bushnell
